We were asked to carry out a Survey at a property in Lanark Road in Edinburgh By Ross Barr of Ross Barr Joinery. Ross Barr
Ross has an excellent company and his attention to detail and quality workmanship is paramount so whilst he had quoted to fit new hardboard flooring in this property he noticed a strong damp smell when he uplifted the carpets.
Time was tight as he had to get this job done quick so he called asking could we attend right away we were there within an hour and we uplifted the floorboards to check the condition of the sub floor joists.
We quickly determined that the joists were totally rotten and indeed the earth between the joists was right up to just under the flooring so no sub floor ventilation rotten joists high ground levels and Dampness in the front walls due to high external ground levels and Rising Dampness.
Ross had all the flooring ready to fit and joiners booked in to do the job so time was of the essence.
We provided Ross with a written Specification as regards what he had to do and price and we detailed our Treatments required all this was done on a Friday Afternoon.
Ross submitted his and our quote to the client who accepted our quote and we set about our Tasks Ross had the hard bit as he had to get 2 skips delivered on the Saturday which had to be placed around 50 metres away due to the location of the property on the main road.
Ross had to get the entire floor uplifted and all the earth excavated and bagged and man handled into the skips He had 6 guys there early Saturday Morning who worked till 9pm that night excavating all the earth.
We installed a new Damp Proof Course on the Saturday Ross got the external high ground level reduced and installed new sub floor vents we returned on the Sunday to treat the oversight and the new floor joists that Ross and his men fitted.
The job was completed by Sunday Evening on Time and On Budget we have worked with Ross and his men on many projects and we think it is important to respond quickly and try to fit into the schedule of Main Contractors building a good working relationship.
