Amazing job- Stuart and the team at Kingston Preservation done a great job restoring my underground cellar. They were very punctual and professional from start to finish. Highly recommended

Hi Stuart,

I hope you had a merry Christmas.

The cellars are now finished? They look as if they are; and very well done too.

“I employed Kingston Preservation to resolve the issues with damp in my ground floor Victorian flat.  I found them to be easy to deal with.  They explained the work that needed to be done in a way I could understand.  They arrived on time and were courteous and polite.  They carried out the work in good time and cleaned up after the job.  Their price for the work was competitive, and I received a guarantee for the work they did.  I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.”

Thanks very much for your and the team’s efforts throughout, I have been very impressed with the work and I’ve appreciated your help to work things out to fit with the other contractors on the job. Eddie and the whole team were great throughout too, very professional, worked very hard to keep on track and gave good advice to us as well. All very much appreciated

The Kingston Preservation team have done a great job all round, transforming a dark damp unusable below pavement cellar into a light welcoming space, which we intend to utilize as a games room.

May I say a big thank you to Kingston Preservation.  I am hugely impressed by the excellent and speedy service you have provided.  You were extremely quick and accommodating in meeting with me at the Church and establishing the extent of the dry rot and you have been extremely efficient in organizing all that had to be done.

Moreover, your men were each punctual in arriving at the Church at the times you said they would and they carried out their work efficiently and without mess and to a very good standard of finish.  I would have no hesitation in calling on you again should, dare I say it, there be another outbreak of dry rot in the Church.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Kingston Preservation having worked with Stuart for over 10 years now and he has never failed to provide a prompt professional cost efficient service when dealing with any Damp and Rot issues we have encountered.

More recent projects included the waterproofing of under pavement cellars which are transforming redundant derelict spaces into useable interior spaces. Kingston Preservation are a very well run company and have supplied us with first class service on every project we have appointed them on with the works being carried out on time and on budget.

I have appointed Kingston Preservation to undertake numerous contracts involving Damp Proof Course works, Tanking Works, Wet Rot & Woodworm Treatments and Under Pavement Cellar Restoration Works on properties throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians for over 10 years.

I have always received a fast, efficient and friendly service, with contracts keeping to plan and budget.  I would recommend Stuart and his Company should you require any of the aforementioned Specialist works and Treatments.

I am pleased to give a reference on behalf of Stuart McAlpine (Kingston Preservation). Since October 2014 Stuart has completed various works at our business centre In Cockenzie. These works included drainage issues, damp and water ingress issues, painting, decorating, plumbing and electrical. He has provided an excellent service; the quality of workmanship is of the highest standards. Costs have always been extremely competitive. He has been extremely helpful in advising and assisting on various projects and works required. In essence I would recommend Stuart for any works.

We have used Kingston a number of times to deal with difficult damp issues at our properties. The work has been carried out extremely quickly (sometimes over weekends) competently and for a very fair price. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Professional service and fair priced – highly recommend.

Kingston Preservation have carried out many preservation works around our campus over the years and has worked on many of our buildings, some of which date back the 15th century. Stuart has always carried these tasks out well and has kept us informed through every stage of the procedure.

Kingston Property Preservation undertook remedial work on our house prior to sale in June 2015. The stone-built 200 year old coach house needed extensive work to stop water ingress from various parts of the roof and chimneys, strip back and treat interior walls, re plaster and decorate.

The company provided a comprehensive, competitive quote and undertook the work at extremely short notice. They delivered the 3 week job on time and within the estimate, committing 100% of their time to the project to ensure timely completion. Several other pieces of remedial work, including treating the roof timbers and replacing a floor, were undertaken, along with external decoration of walls and windows.

It was really helpful to have a single team to do the range of specialist work which was required and manage the project as a single entity. This avoided the need for several estimates and co-ordination of different contractors. The workmen put a huge effort into completing the job and were extremely responsive, professional and pleasant to deal with. They were proactive, giving advice on other areas which needed work done, volunteering to help and cleaning up well.

All of the paperwork has been produced to a high standard and with a very quick turnaround time. I was kept informed of progress on an at least daily basis throughout.

I have no hesitation in recommending Kingston Property Preservation for this type of work and would certainly contract with them in future.

Stuart was fantastic to work with, we had complete confidence in the work he was doing. We have used Kingston Preservation on a couple of jobs in our portfolio and every time the work was completed quickly and efficiently – 5 stars from Kingsford Estates.

Stuart was a pleasure to work with. He was very professional, helpful, informative and efficient. He established the costs of remedying damp and timber preservation for a property I was considering purchasing within 24 hours and the cost for this was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Stuart and would be pleased to work with him again.

Hi Stuart,
I have today transferred funds for both the kitchen and patio repair invoices. Everything currently looks fine so thanks for all the work.

We had a flood in our property in the Moray Feu, New Town. As the property has original Georgian features including an original Parquet de Versailles oak floor and an original beautiful corniced ceiling we needed both a preservation and a conservation company that had specialist knowledge of damp after floods and of the architecture and historic features of a New Town Property. We struggled to find such a company in Scotland but after having a thorough and independent study completed by historic building surveyors Adams Napier from Edinburgh which was invaluable we knew what was required and that we must have a total restoration expert. We turned to Kingston Preservation and Mr McAlpine who are based in Edinburgh and have an excellent reputation and we cannot thank them enough for restoring our property to its former glory in such an excellent and timely manner. Mr McAlpine from Kingston Preservation personally visited and went through everything very carefully with us. He knew exactly what the problems could be after a flood and how to prevent any future problems. We are pleased also that he will provide a 15 year guarantee which none of the drying contractors we looked at could do. He personally kept us up to date every day and the work carried out was extremely well documented with every stage which gave us a lot of peace of mind. When it came to redecoration he appointed a very experienced expert in cornicing and New Town painter Mr Robert Steen who is clearly at the top of his profession. We are absolutely delighted with his beautiful work and attention to detail. One of our concerns was that any company we used followed all of the guidelines for an historical oak parquet floor, understanding specific moisture contents and drying times and methods and testing of the area below the floor. But we should not have worried as Kingston Preservation are experts. The floor is still the original floor and is beautiful and retains all of its character. It is imperative in such situations to go a company that understands historic floors and Kingston Preservation had all of the technical knowledge of the age and character of the floor at their fingertips. They did not use heavy sanding equipment but laboriously used wire wool by hand before waxing and polishing the floor by hand to bring out the character of the Georgian Parquet Floor. Absolutely remarkable. A very professional company from start to finish. It is wonderful to see the work all finished in a manner that is appropriate for such a beautiful property in the New Town.

We are merely the custodians of these beautiful historic houses and we should look after them for the generations to come. Kingston Preservation understand this very well.

Hi Stuart,

Thanks again to you and your team for the fantastic conversions and I’d be happy to show the cellars to potential customers if it’s of use to you.

All the best,

Kingston really put the customer first. All work was done to a very high standard and communication was excellent during the whole process.
